The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain

If you want a book to make you smile, here it is. A bookseller called Laurent finds a handbag in a street in Paris. Inside there’s no clue to the owner’s name, just a red notebook in which the woman has jotted down her thoughts – recollections of last night’s dreams, her hopes, her fears, musings about her life. Laurent is so drawn to the person revealed in the notebook that he decides to try to find her. Not an easy thing to do when you haven’t even got a name to go on…

It’s a gorgeous story, a short book, a quick read. Loved it.
